The CRT SS-8900 is the successor to the SS-7900 V Turbo and at first glance you don't see any differences but there are. It features a VOX function, a 5 kHz Step and the modern NRC filter (noise reduction). The installation depth of the CRT SS-8900 has shrunk from 280 mm to 230 mm.
The CRT SS-8900 is a mobile transceiver that allows transmitting and receiving on AM/FM and SSB band (28 - 29.7 MHz). Another innovation was that frequencies in the 2 meter band (136 - 174 MHz) could be stored for receive only via the optional programming software.
The CRT SS-8900 has a transmit power of 60W PEP in AM mode, up to 50W in FM and 60W PEP SSB, each adjustable.
Using the optional programming software, the unit can be personalized. The "DATA" USB programming port is located on the back of the unit. Using the appropriate USB programming cable, the device is connected to the PC and can be programmed. Do not use a conventional USB cable of the same design, as this may cause permanent damage to the device.
